CHICAGO (AP) -- After shredding the Chicago Bears' first-team defense in an otherwise meaningless 26-to-seven victory tonight, Brett Favre certainly sounded like a man who was ready to leave the game.
Standing on the 20-yard line with a group of teammates, Favre got choked up during a T-V interview. He said he'd decide --quote -- "soon" whether he'll come back next season.
He said it's tough, that he's going to miss his teammates and the game.
Favre stopped short of saying he'll retire.
With the win, the Packers finish the season eight-and-eight, twice as good as their four-and-12 record last year.
Favre might want to come back and continue to chase several milestones. He's seven touchdown passes shy of breaking Dan Marino's career mark of 420.
And he tied Marino for Number Two in career victories with 147. He's only one away from tying John Elway for the record.
But while Favre maintains that he still loves to play, he doesn't seem quite as convinced as everybody else that he should keep playing.
Toward the end of the game he exchanged handshakes and hugs with teammates before he was pulled for backup quarterback Ingle Martin.
