WOODCHUCKS PRESS RELEASE:

WAUSAU, WI – July 10th 2009 – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (1-6) got a three-run blast from Brett Krill (UCLA) and a complete game gem from Bobby Pritchett (Central Arkansas) as they picked up their first win of the second half with a 7-1 victory over the Duluth Huskies Friday night.

The Woodchucks chased Huskies starter Kyle Stewart out of the game after just four batters, as the Woodchucks scored two runs in the in first to jump out to a 2-0 lead after one inning of play.

In the top of the second inning, Andy Burns answered in grand fashion with a solo shot over the right field wall to cut the lead in half at 2-1.

That’s as close as the Huskies would get though, as Krill crushed a three-run home run off the top of the light pole in left field to extend the Woodchucks lead to 5-1.

Wisconsin wasn’t done though, as they strung together three hits in the bottom of the fourth and scored two runs to rip the game open and give the ‘Chucks at 7-1 advantage.

That would cap the scoring in this one, as Pritchett cruised from there. He picked up the win after going the distance for the second time this season. For the game, Pritchett allowed one run on four hits while striking out eight Huskies.

Stewart took the loss for the Huskies after allowing two runs in just .1 innings of work. Khris Tate gave up three runs in 1.2 innings of relief while Tyler Clark gave up the final two runs in his five innings on the mound.

The ‘Chucks offense was led by Krill who finished up 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a season high four RBIs. Chad Wright (Kentucky) went 1-for-1 and scored three runs in the victory. The Huskies offense was led by the home run from Burns as they finished with just four hits in the contest.

The Huskies and Woodchucks will play again tomorrow at Athletic Park at 6:35 pm, before Wisconsin welcomes in the St. Cloud River Bats for a pair of games.
