ROSENDALE, Wis. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers' general manager has returned to the ball fields of his youth in Wisconsin.
Trent Baalke is in the Badger State for the 49ers game against the Green Bay Packers Sunday. He returned to Laconia High School in Rosendale Thursday where he graduated in 1982 and lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
WLUK-TV says Baalke's message to Laconia students was simple. Life is a journey. The decisions you make along the way have a great impact on the direction you'll go. And while Baalke's decisions have taken him far from Rosendale, he says it's still home and always will be.
Last season Baalke was named NFL executive of the year and earned a contract extension through the 2016 season.
