He named longtime NBA veteran Mike Schuler as an assistant coach Wednesday.
The 62-year-old Schuler brings more than 35 years of coaching experience to the Bucks. Owner Herb Kohl hired the 40-year-old Porter last week to replace George Karl.
Schuler has spent five seasons as a head coach and eleven as an assistant in the NBA. His most recent experience was on Flip Saunders' staff in Minnesota from 1994 to 2000 where he was an assistant, then a scout.
