Boys 2009 NewsChannel 7 Basketball All-Stars

As in the previous 47 years, the NewsChannel 7 Boys Basketball All-Stars were voted on by coaches from across northcentral Wisconsin.

We'll start with the large schools. Adams-Friendship senior Lance Fritz led the Green Devils in scoring this season. After a state runner-up finish a year ago, the Green Devils are hitting their stride again having won seven straight and a regional crown going into sectionals, with Lance leading the playoff push.

Antigo junior Jordan Mach led the Red Robins to the inaugural Great Northern Conference championship averaging better than 20 points per game, 4 steals, and 92% free throws. Jordan has led the Red Robins to sectionals for the first time in eight years and riding a 15-game win streak.

Next up is DC Everest senior Matt Kerswill. The NewsChannel 7 Football All-Star led the Evergreens in scoring with 15 and nearly 5 assists per game. The 14 wins by the Evergreens is their highest in 4 years. Matt's coach calls him one of the impact players in the Wisconsin Valley Confernece.

Wausau West senior Seth McMullen did a little bit of everything for the Warriors. Leading them in scoring, rebounds and assists, at 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per outing. Seth led the Warriors to their second straight Wisconsin Valley Conference title.

Rounding out our large school all-stars is Clayton Heuer of Wisconsin Rapids. A unanimous selection, named on every single ballot. His 17 points and 10 rebounds led the Valley Conference. Clayton is headed to division one UW-Green Bay.

To the small schools now.

Amherst senior Nate Martin poured in 12 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, hitting 41 percent from long distance for the Falcons. He went over 1,000 career points. Nate has been an all-star in the CWC-8 his entire prep career, and now he's one of our all-stars.

How about the season for Assumption senior Alex Erdmann. The senior Royal has his squad headed to sectionals. Alex contributed to the Royals 21-win season with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists.

Our next couple of all-stars come to us from Colby. First, it's Jordan Rahm. The 6-2 senior guard dished out 5 assists per game, to go along with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and surpassed 1,000 points for his career.

Jordan's Hornet teammate Wade Sebold also makes the roster. The 6-5 senior scored 14 points, hitting 65 percent from the field, and 6 rebounds.

Lukas Boehning of Marshfield Columbus puts the finishing touches on this year's all-stars. The senior led the Dons with 18 points and 9 rebounds. His coach calls him one of hte most versatile players in the Cloverbelt Conference.

Congratulations to our 2009 NewsChannel 7 Basketball All-Stars, from all of us at NewsChannel 7.
