The Giants are showing no signs of a letdown following their Super Bowl season.

The defending champions improved to 4-and-0 with a 44-6 thrashing of visiting Seattle. It's the team's best start since 1990, when they went 13-and-3 and won the NFL title. Eli Manning threw for a pair of touchdowns and Brandon Jacobs ran for two more scores as New York recorded its eighth straight win dating back to last year's playoffs. The Seahawks 1-and-3 start is their worst since 2002.

Tennessee protected its unblemished record with a 13-10 win over Baltimore. Kerry Collins threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Alge Crumpler with 1:56 left to rally the Titans to their fifth win of the season. The Ravens are 2-and-2 after absorbing their second straight loss.

After four straight wins, Buffalo crashed out of the unbeaten ranks with a 41-17 loss at Arizona. Kurt Warner threw a pair of scoring passes to Larry Fitzgerald and rookie Tim Hightower ran for two TDs to help the Cardinals snap a two-game skid and improve to 3-and-2. Bills second-year quarterback Trent Edwards went down with a concussion on the third play of the game. Fortunately, the Bills are entering a bye week and coach Dick Jauron says Edwards can use the extra week to recuperate.

The Patriots returned from a bye week and won in San Francisco for the first time in franchise history, beating the 49ers 30-21. Kevin Faulk rushed for two scores and Matt Cassel had 259 yards passing to help New England get to 3-and-1. The Niners fall to 2-and-3.

Denver moves to 4-and-1 with a 16-13 win over visiting Tampa Bay. Buccaneers quarterback Brian Griese was making his first visit to Invesco Field since his five frustrating years in Denver as John Elway's successor and the Broncos knocked him out of the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. The Bucs fall to 3-and-2 on the season.

Washington continues to play well under first-year head coach Jim Zorn. Clinton Portis ran for 145 yards and a touchdown in a 23-17 win at NFC East rival Philadelphia. It's the Redskins fourth straight victory following a season-opening loss and their second straight road win against a division opponent. They won at Dallas a week ago. The Eagles dip to 2-and-3.

After letting a 17-point lead shrivel to one, Dallas claimed a 31-22 victory over the winless Cincinnati Bengals. It's the Cowboys' fourth win in five games this season.

After missing the playoffs for two straight seasons, the Panthers are off to their best start since reaching the Super Bowl at the end of the 2003 campaign. Carolina is 4-and-1 following a 34-0 drubbing of Kansas City. DeAngelo Williams led the way by rushing for 123 yards rushing and scoring three touchdowns. The Chiefs are 1-and-4 after suffering their first shutout in nearly six years.

Chad Pennington threw for 228 yards and Ronnie Brown ran for 125 yards and the decisive touchdown as Miami improved to 2-and-2 with a 17-10 upset of visiting San Diego. It doubles the Dolphins' win total from all of last season. Miami's defense held LaDainian Tomlinson to 35 yards on 12 carries. The defending AFC West champion Chargers fall to 2-and-3.

Kyle Orton set career highs in passing yards, completions and quarterback rating while throwing two touchdowns to lead the Chicago Bears to a 34-7 victory over winless Detroit. He was 24-of-34 for 334 yards and had a 121.4 rating while improving to 3-and-0 against the Lions. The Bears move to 3-and-2 on the year and break out of a first-place tie with Green Bay in the NFC North standings.

The Packers lost to visiting Atlanta 27-24 to fall to 2-and-3. Falcons rookie quarterback Matt Ryan turned in another sharp performance, completing 16 of 26 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Michael Turner ran for 121 yards and a touchdown to help the Falcons get to 3-and-2 with their first road win of the season.

The Colts avoided what would have been a disastrous 1-and-3 start by rallying for a 31-27 victory over still-winless Houston. Indianapolis scored 21 points in a three-and-a-half minute span late in the game to pull it out. Peyton Manning threw two touchdown passes, including a five-yarder to Reggie Wayne with 1:54 remaining for the decisive points. The Texans are 0-and-4.

The Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 4-and-1 by beating Jacksonville 26-21. Ben Roethlisberger hit Hines Ward on an 8-yard TD pass with 1:53 left for the go-ahead touchdown. Roethlisberger threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns as the Steelers snapped a four-game losing streak against Jacksonville. The Jaguars are 2-and-3.
