Packers Confirm Favre's Return

The Green Bay Packers say that quarterback Brett Favre has confirmed he'll to play for the team again this year, ending months of speculation.

General Manager Ted Thompson released a brief statement Wednesday (April 26, 2006) morning. He says the Packers are very pleased that Brett has come to this decision, and look forward to a successful 2006 season. reported Tuesday (April 25, 2006) night that Favre had told the Packers he'd return to play this year.

Favre said in his most recent comments on retirement April 10 at his annual charity golf tournament that he wondered whether the team had improved enough in the offseason to justify coming back.

The Packers finished 4 and 12 last year for its only losing season under Favre.

The 36-year-old quarterback threw a career-high 29 interceptions.

Favre ranks second behind Dan Marino on the NFL's career list in touchdown passes, yards passing and completions, and he hold the records for most consecutive starts by a quarterback.
