RIB MOUNTAIN, WI -- Antigo has advanced to the semifinals of the State Little League Tournament being held in Rib Mountain with a 12-2 win on Wednesday.
Antigo was trailing Elmbrook 2-1 entering the 4th inning when the bats came alive. Bryce Chruminsky laced a double to center field that tied the game at two. Then Josh Hale put the finishing touches on a 4-run 9th inning with a grand slam that made it 10-2 after 4 innings.
"I didn't really think it was going to happen, said Hale. "My coach told me to get a base hit and don't swing for the fence. I didn't (swing for the fence) and it wound up going past the fence."
"'Hitting is conagous' is what the coach always says, and I believe it," said Chruminsky. "It's just that it gets our hopes up that were gonna get a hit. They keep their heads down and get a hit themselves."
Antigo scored two runs in the bottom of the 5th with no outs for the 12-2 final score.
