WAUSAU, WI - The Madison Mallards (22-13 overall, 0-2
second half) had no answer for 'Chucks starter Bobby Pritchett (Central Arkansas) Saturday evening at Athletic Park in Wausau.

Behind Pritchett's 8.0 innings of work, the Woodchucks (24-12, 2-0) won 3-1, and earned a sweep of Madison to start the second half of the Northwoods League season. Pritchett allowed just a pair of hits and no earned runs allowed while striking out eight Mallards and walking three.

After the Mallards jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the 'Chucks took advantage of three walks and a hit batter to take a 3-1 lead that would put the Woodchucks up for good. Terrance Jackson (North Central Texas) had the only hit of the inning, an RBI single. Aaron Varnum (Embry-Riddle) allowed a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to make it a one run game. Brad Riddle (Oklahoma City University) would come on with two outs and two on to strike out Trent Soares to pick up his second save of the season.

The Woodchucks picked up the victory despite committing three errors and finishing with just three hits.

The 'Chucks return to Athletic Park after an off day Sunday to battle the
Waterloo Bucks at Athletic Park Monday night. It's free money night as the first 500 fans through the gates will receive an envelope containing between $1 and $100. Gates open at 5:35 p.m. with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
