WAUSAU, WI – January 8th, 2012 – The Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2013 inductees in to the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees include:
o Omar Vizquel – Member of the 1986 Wausau Timbers. Played 24 years in the Majors with 4 different teams. Won 11 total gold gloves and was a 3-time All-Star. Considered one of baseballs best all time fielding shortstops.
o Dan Kraschnewski – Played high school baseball at Medford. Received a scholarship to play baseball from New Mexico State University. After college, Dan played in the Wisconsin Baseball Association where he won 15 league titles with Whittlesey and 4 state titles with 4 different teams.
o Keith ‘Whitey’ Steinagel – Coached the Mosinee High School baseball team from 1979-1999. He finished with a career record of 218-123, which included 4 Cloverbelt Conference championships and 1 state appearance. Was inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2004
o Mike Roiger – Instrumental in the success of the Whittlesey baseball program. His involvement dates back to 1957 when he helped manage and take care of the field. Helped design and finance improvements to the fields and also sits on the board of the Whittlesey Baseball Association. Was also instrumental in getting the Wisconsin 35 and Older Baseball League started. Served on the board of the Dairlyland League and has also served on the board of the Wisconsin Baseball Association since 1962.
The 11th Annual Central Wisconsin Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Wednesday, January 23th, at Dale’s Weston Lanes. There will be a social hour beginning at 5:30pm with festivities beginning at 6:30pm and dinner being served at 7:15pm.
Tickets for the Central Wisconsin Hall of Fame Banquet are on sale and can be purchased at the Woodchucks’ office location at Washington Square, Suite 305 or by calling the office at (715)845-5055. Tickets are $30 each and include dinner.
Headlining the ceremony will be this years Keynote Speaker, Brewers radio-man, Joe Block. Block joined the Brewers in 2012 after more than 10 years of broadcasting experience. He has called over 900 professional baseball games as well as play-by-play for major college baseball and football for various regional networks.
