Stevens Point could soon be the home to the St. Louis Rams' training camp.

UW-Stevens Point Athletic Director Frank O'Brien tells NewsChannel 7 he made a call to the Rams organization and is waiting for a response.

Rams Public Relations Director Rick Smith tells NewsChannel 7 the team is considering Stevens Point, Whitewater and Macomb, Illinois, where the Rams left three years ago.

The Rams had been considering UW-La Crosse, but the school is doing work on its stadium and turf.

If the Rams return to Wisconsin, they'd be near the Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, which trains in River Falls, and the Minnesota Vikings, whose training grounds are in Mankato, Minnesota.

Stevens Point attempted to lure the Rams in 1996, but the team chose Macomb instead.
