CABLE, Wis. (AP) -- It's the 35th running of the American Birkebeiner cross-country ski races in northern Wisconsin Saturday.
Among the racers will be John Kotar, Ernie St. Germaine and Dave Landgraff.
The three men have the distinction of having participated in all 34 prior races.
The 1973 Birkebeiner was the first cross-country ski race for all three.
St. Germaine says the next morning after the race, he could hardly walk because his feet hurt so bad and vowed he'd never do that again.
But, he did, over and over.
And, the 60-year-old St. Germaine will do it again Saturday.
The 51-kilometer Birkebeiner and the new 53-K Classic Birkie begin at 8:20 a.m. Saturday.
The 23K Kortelopet Freestyle starts at 8:30.
The 2007 Birkebeiner men's champion, Zack Simons, will race again this year.
