They played two very exciting games during the regular season.
On Sunday the Packers and Vikings will meet in the playoffs in the biggest game of the year, and local businesses are as excited as anyone for the big showdown.
"It's a lot fun, especially when they're winning like they've been doing this year. People are happy. They're high-fiving and having a great time. It's a great atmosphere," says Mike Jelinek, manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Wausau.
And the atmosphere at Buffalo Wild Wings in Wausau won't get any better than this Sunday when the Packers and Vikings battle for the third time this year, this time in the playoffs.
The sports bar on Stewart Avenue expects to be at full capacity Sunday. Regular season games are busy enough, but throw in the playoff and the Vikings, and that's a lot of business.
"Packer games are normally pretty big to begin with, but when you have a team like the Vikings, which is a big rivalry, or Chicago, you usually get a few more people in here," Jelinek says.
It should be a good day for area pizza places as well. Papa John's in Wausau expects to be very busy.
"I'd guess at least twice the business, at least twice the business of a normal non-game Sunday," says Ryan Baker, an assistant manager at Papa John's.
Baker says Papa John's normally has about four or five workers on a Sunday when the Packers don't play. How many will be working this Sunday? Twelve.
Kick-off for Sunday's big game is set for 3:30.
