The 51st Annual Newschannel 7 Golf Classic teed off Thursday at Greenwood Hills Country Club. The seniors division started things off as Craig Blanchard set the pace shooting on-under on the day. Friday though was a different story. Blanchard wasn't able to hang on and outshoot Mark Heiting. Heiting shot a blistering -2 on the back nine and even on the front. Heiting carded a final score of even par to take home the hardware.
Friday the ladies teed off as Rheba Mabie tried to win her eighth Classic Championship. She did not disappoint. Mabie carded a 73 to take home to crown, while Lizzy Hogan placed second with a 75 and Cassandra Marschall finished in third with a 76.
Finally, The Classic began on Saturday. Rick Miller led wire to wire. He shot even par on a first day that included a rain delay. On day two, Miller was able to hold off four other golfers that finished two shots back of Miller's +3 score. Miller had previously played twenty-one years in the Classic before finally winning it this year.
