An initial court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow for a man charged in a snowmobile crash that killed a Chicago TV anchor.

Scott Hirschey is charged in Vilas County with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in the death of his friend, Randy Salerno.

Prosecutors say Hirschey had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit during the crash last month.

A criminal complaint says Hirschey's blood alcohol level was point-two-two percent four hours after the crash. The legal limit to drive in Wisconsin is point-oh-eight.

The 45-year-old Salerno was killed when the snowmobile on which he was a passenger missed an entrance to a trail near Sayner, hit an embankment and flew at least 20 feet in the air before hitting a tree.

The complaint says Hirschey refused to perform an alcohol breath test for a DNR warden investigating the crash and gave varying accounts about his drinking before the accident.
