BUTTERNUT, Wis. (AP) -- A Minnesota man was killed when his snowmobile collided with a semitrailer in Ashland County.

The Wisconsin State Patrol the accident happened on Highway 13 near the Town of Butternut about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say Mitchell Riebel, 37, of Waconia failed to stop when his snowmobile trail intersected with the highway and struck the side of the semi.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The Department of Natural Resources tells NewsChannel 7 that alcohol is a factor in the crash.
