Some local bike shops have seen a lot of business this spring, from people looking to save money on their commute.
"A lot, and more and more gas prices are going way up. That's one of the biggest things," says Trevor Williams, from Builer's Cycle and Fitness Center in Wausau.
One biker says he was spending too much to driving his car nearly 30 miles from Marathon City to Wausau to work each day, so he downsized to two wheels.
"It was just very expensive to maintain transmission went out on it and I said you know what, I'm just going to bike," says Paul Kage.
Drivers are also turning to mopeds to save a few bucks. They're much cheaper than a car, and can be driven on most city roads. Moped salseman Jim Hubing says last time gas rose to more than 4 dollars a gallon, all types of people came in to get a moped.
"It's not only just the saving the money though they're also just fun to drive," says Art Huebner, who just bought a moped.
But experts say safety is key when riding a bike or moped, be sure to wear a helmet and use lights at night.
"They're not as easy to see as another vehicle so I tell drivers to remember, look twice," says Hubing, from Car Connection Central in Schofield.
