Nothing will stop area residents from helping out kids.... not even jumping into a freezing lake in the middle of winter.
Saturday's polar bear jump in Adams County shows how important the Children's Miracle Network is to Central wisconsin.
Despite the frigid temperatures... Nearly 100 brave souls jumped into Lake Petenwell for the fundraiser.
Saturday's new year's event was the 14th in a row the Lure Bar and Grill hosted, and because of the freezing cold and bone-chilling wind, it's one that many won't soon forget.
100 percent of proceeds from the big event go to the Children's Miracle Network.
The network is locally ran through Ministry's Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital.
It provides programs, services, and treatment for sick and injured kids.
Some of today's jumpers have a personal connection to the organzation.
"iWe have a nephew with cerebral palsy and he has been in the hospital.... he was there during Christmas at one of their hospitals, and we jump for him, we jump for all the kids," said Kerry Campbell, who raised $2,000 this year.
Dozens of jumpers lined the dock ready to dive in, and dozens more stayed on the shore to cheer them on.
Event organizers hope the polar bear jump continues to make a big splash.
Since its on-set... $150,000 dollars has been raised for the Children's Miracle Network.
