Though some expect Father's Day spending to decline this year, one local retailer says his customers are spending about the same.

St. Clair's Menswear in downtown Wausau has been especially busy the last week, as last minute shoppers scrounge for gifts.

The most popular items are trendy shirts that have unique patterns and embroidery. Bright-colored shirts and shorts are also on many lists.

"I don't think that Father's Day is really a time that they're going to skrimp and save. I think that they'll buy something a little nicer and something that'll hold up a little longer," said manager Ken Haines.

The classic shirt and tie remains to be a favorite gift for dad.

The National Retail Federation predicts that each household will spend about $90 on average, totaling $9.4 billion this year across the country.
