MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The 100th anniversary of Devil's Lake State Park is being celebrated this summer, including an event with Gov. Scott Walker.
Walker and Department of Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp planned to headline an event at the park near Baraboo on Saturday that also involves past park superintendents, area business leaders and others.
Democratic state Rep. Brett Hulsey of Madison criticizes Walker's decision to go to the park, saying his policies are hurting the environment, threatening hunting and fishing habitat.
Devil's Lake is Wisconsin's largest state park and most attended with 1.8 million visitors a year.
It is the state's third oldest park.
