WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin Rapids residents are getting the chance to vote this week, even if they're as young as 5 years old.
The voting is to select a new mascot for Lincoln High School, and the choices are from designs representing a bull, fox, hawk or wolf.
A task force came up with the possible mascot designs in a process that dates back about a year and a half, when the student council decided to try to establish a new mascot.
The high school's nickname of Red Raiders remains, but all of the past references to American Indians have been removed.
The mascot is aimed at giving students an identity during sports events and other activities.
After this week's voting, a second round is planned to come up with the final mascot.
