The Town of Rib Mountain says they're looking to hire a new permanent crossing guard, after law enforcement says a woman showed up for work drunk Wednesday afternoon.
The State Patrol says 53-year-old Kathleen Quinn was arrested for her 2nd Operating While Under the Influence charge after a citizen called the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, concerned because they saw Quinn stumbling across the road.
She was working at the intersection of County Highway R and Robin Lane in Rib Mountain, and was in her vehicle when officers arrived.
The Town of Rib Mountain says Quinn resigned Thursday morning. They say they do background checks on applicants for crossing guard, but that an O.W.I. conviction doesn't necessarily rule someone out. "Any previous record wouldn't necessarily disqualify them from that position”, said Gayleen Rhoden, Rib Mountain Town Administrator. “The crossing guard position is a non-motorized position."
Court Records show Quinn's previous conviction was in October of 2005.
The Town says safety of the children is their top priority, and the position has been temporarily filled.
