Gov. Scott Walker unveiled his jobs plans, Monday afternoon in Schofield. The governor will make the announcement about what he calls the Wisconsin Working agenda at Jarp Industries.

The plan contains a number of long-term and short-term strategies to assist both job seekers and employers.

The governor says the plan is to put the more than 120,000 people in Wisconsin who are on unemployment back to work.The program would provide twice as many job fairs thoughout the state. It will also work with veterans to ensure they find work after their service. The governor says the plan will approach things from two sides. “We’re going to aggressively work with our new Wisconsin Economic Developement Assocation to bridge the gap between those who are on unemployment to employers who we know have jobs and make the connection.”, he said Monday during the press conference.

In a news release, the governor said he is creating a College and Workforce Readiness Council that will include representatives from small businesses, the workforce, colleges and the government. The council will work to create shorter and less costly degree programs aimed at filling high need positions. It will also create opportunities for high school students to earn workforce training credits in high school.
