Polls are closed in Price County, and Sheriff Wallace Krenzke will be the Democratic Candidate for Sheriff in next month's final primary election.

Currently the numbers are as follows
44 of 44 Wards Reporting (100%)

DEMOCRATIC
Richard J. Heitkemper - 1177
Wallace C. Krenzke - 1317
Ron Kardas - 192
REPUBLICAN
Brian S. Schmidt - 473

The election comes after citizens gathered enough signatures to recall current sheriff Wallace Krenzke. Krenzke came under fire after he was accused of mismanaging the failed search for a 70-year-old woman Deanne Brien in March.

Citizens and officials say Krenzke refused help from outside departments and delayed the search hours after the woman could be heard calling for help. Brien was found dead the next morning.

A deputy with the department, Brian Schmidt, is the only Republican on the ticket. Schmidt is also the Prentice Village president.

Krenzke was challenged on the democratic ticket by Ronald Kardas, who is a member of the county's board of supervisors, and Richard Heitkemper, who was the Price County Sheriff from 1995 to 2000.

To "tax payer"sounds to me you hate your life and have never liked yourself! well get a life and if you moved, Price county would have a few less useless people and a few less ball babies and whinny people in town. Wally Krenzke is here to stay! And if you know it all and think that 2 police officers are not worthy of becomeing a sheriff, why the heck didn't you run for sheriff? You seem to think you know it all! Oh I know why, you are all of the things you state about Wally Krenzke, and More! Happy packing and hope it wont take you too long to get the heck out of Price County!!! Oh and by the way George Brein has a new girlfriend for over a couple of months now. Didn't take him long to get over his wife's death. The one he didn't call into the sheriff's department until after dark to report her missing when she was missing 3 1/2- 4 hours earliler. The one that left a demention patient all alone when he knew she would have walked off into the woods. Read the reports! Get your facts!!

Well, we citizens really have an easy decision. Don't vote. None of the existing candidates are worthy of being the sheriff. Wait folks, the rest of the show will begin if Wally gets through. Excellent background? In what? Lying, covering up, being a bully, undereducated, and many other perfectly good descriptions of this excuse for a sheriff. You are on your own in Price County. Get out while you can. How this fool has made it this far is a sad statement for the citizens of Price County. Those that voted and support him have to be cut from the same bolt of cloth. Too bad, this used to be a nice County. Now it is the safe harbor for fools, cheats, and liars. This taxpayer is going to leave before it rubs off on me and my family.

The people of price county have every right to use their constitutional right to vote for whom ever they choose. And a majority of people that voted, voted for wally to be on the Democratic ticket. That does not make them fools. The people that voted for Wally Krenzke, know him and know that he is the right man for a tough job. I believe he has done an exceptional job as sheriff and I believe he will continue to do exceptionally well. Thank you to all that voted, even if your vote wasn't for Wally Krenzke. If you voted, you have earned the right to an opinion. If you didn't vote, you should keep your opinion to your self. I am not a fool for voting for the right man. And neither are the other people that voted for him. If you think they are fools, look in the mirror and you will see the biggest fool of all! I wish Wally Krenzke the best in the next election. And to Give me a break, Wally has an excellent back groun.&the voters r not stupid, look in the mirror&u will see stupid
