MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Sending text messages while driving, and using a cell phone when driving a school bus, would be illegal under a pair of bills that have passed the Senate.
Both would have to pass the Assembly to become law, but they haven't been scheduled to be taken up before the Assembly ends its work for the year this week.
One bill that passed Wednesday would bar anyone driving a school bus or any other vehicle authorized by a school board to transport children from using a cell phone.
That includes sending text messages.
The other bill only outlaws sending text messages while at the wheel, but it applies to all drivers.
