Specialist Grant Dampier graduated from Merrill High School in 1999.

He joined the Army in September 2005 - the same year he got married.

Dampier was deployed to Iraq in December 2005 and was killed by an improvised explosive device in May 2006.

Dampier is survived by his wife, three daughters, mother, stepfather, two sisters and three brothers.

His brother tells NewsChannel 7 Dampier loved fishing with his girls, working on cars and tattoos, and watching the Packers.
