Staff Sergeant Gavin Grubofski is a 2003 graduate of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.

He joined the Air Force a few weeks later.

Since September 2007, Grubofski has been on active duty in Iraq as part of the Tactical Air Control Party, which calls in the air strikes.

Grubofski is due home for at least a visit in April 2008.

He received an Airman of the Year Award in 2005.
