| Orville “Pete” D. Wood, age 70, Birnamwood, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Antigo. He was born on January 1, 1939 in Birnamwood, the son of the late Daniel P. and Irene (Kosbab) Wood. On October 14, 1983 he was united in marriage to Delores (Opper) Schmidt in Birnamwood. She survives. Pete farmed in Birnamwood for many years and enjoyed taking drives through the country side. In addition to his wife, survivors include his siblings; Caroline Garbisch, Wittenberg, Stanley Wood, Appleton, James (Agatha) Wood, Neenah, Lois (Wayne) Owen, Appleton, Iris (Joseph) Steinke, Hatley, Daniel Wood, Birnamwood and Roger (Stella) Wood, Appleton; two stepdaughters, Paula (Steve) Fuller, Birnamwood and Gina (Dennis) Thielman, Birnamwood; three stepsons, Randy (Sheila) Schmidt, Hatley, Timothy (Patty) Schmidt, Phlox and Steve (Rena’) Schmidt, Antigo; 11 step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and many other relatives. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by one brother, Julius Wood and one sister, Bernice Wood. A Memorial Service will be at 2pm on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Dean Bertsch will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1pm until the time of services at the church. Schmidt Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
