LeRoy K. Wendorf, 71, Weston died on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. LeRoy was born in Wausau on June 26, 1937 to the late Edward and Verona (Kell) Wendorf. He married Esther Duginski on September 10, 1960 in Merrill. LeRoy was a production supervisor for Greenheck Fan Corporation and served his country in the National Guard from 1956 to 1962. LeRoy had a spirit of adventure, an always positive outlook on life along with a great sense of humor and fun. He was always ready with a good joke, a quick witted comment, thought provoking pun or play on words. He had a quiet appreciation of the simple things, like a good cup of coffee, snow-lined trees or a walk in the woods. Life was always about others, making sure everyone else was doing well, feeling happy, that is what mattered most. He enjoyed cross country skiing, camping, biking, visiting the art museum, library, and going on a new trip. He loved music, dancing the polka with mom, attending concert on the square, playing harmonica, singing and yodeling. He loved making memories with his family and every minute spent with his grandchildren. LeRoy enjoyed a 20 year career at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee before the family escaped the big city and returned to their hometown where he retired from Greenheck after 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Esther; one son Michael “Mic” Wendorf of Weston; two daughters, Debbie (Gary) Kasten of Weston and Sue (Chris) Fisher of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Benjamin Roy and Lucas Jacob Kasten, Noah Brett and Vanessa Paige Fisher; four sisters, Evelyn Jensema, Spanaway, Wash., Sally Tabaka, Wausau, Marjorie (James) Houg, Three Lakes and Jeanne (Jim) Klinger, Wausau; and two sisters-in-law, Mercedes and Shirley Wendorf, Wausau. He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Karissa Jo Kasten and Chloe Anne Fisher; two brothers, Elmer and Alvin; and two sisters, Marian and Verona. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 6:00 PM at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Chaplain Christine Sullivan of Aspirus Wausau Hospital will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a donation of books to the Schofield Public Library. Online condolences may be sent to www.brainardfuneral.com.
