We would love nothing more than for the need to vanish. That everyone would have a job and no one would go hungry.
But that's not the case, in fact, the need continues to grow. So we expanded Share Your Holidays from two to three weeks this year.
Kicking things off on Black Friday, by meeting a family who has been helped by the Salvation Army and Neighbors Place, where all the food and money you donate goes.
But after that first week, we had gotten one bag of food and $25.
Then, things really started to pick up at the Wausau Holiday Parade a week later. As we walked along the route, you gave us more food than ever before.
The following Friday, the same was true at our annual celebrity gas pump for Share Your Holidays. It was the warmest gas pump we've ever had. It's also the most food you've ever donated at the event.
Our regular big donors were back this year. The Halversen family agian gave us $5,000. The Wausau Truck Center again let us use a semi to act as a billboard in front of our studio. They also made a nice donation again. And Andy's Towing also dropped off a ton of food.
When the last days approached and we were still well below our money goal, I did a story telling you that. And boy did you ever respond!
Donations started to pour in. All the way from a couple dollars up to a massive $5,000 check from the brickner family auto group.
The Dudley Foundation, which has made a $10,000 donation for the last few years got wind we may not make out $20,000 goal. So they called the Judd S. Alexander Foundation and they also gave 10k to the cause.
For a small city, Wausau has some foundations with big hearts!
Finally, check presenation day came and your generosity was again, record breaking at more than $43,000.
Thank you to everyone for Sharing Your Holidays
The River Valley bank our flagship sponsor which matches donations up to $5,000 will still take money for share your holidays until the end of the year.
