Zippin' Pippin a Highlight of Green Bay's Bay Beach

This week's "Trips on a Tank" is for all you thrill seekers out there. We travel 95 miles east to Green Bay, and to check out all the rides at Bay Beach Amusement Park.

45 acres... 18 rides... One really fun day; thave everything from a merry go round to a miniature train. Welcome to Bay Beach Amusement Park, the ninth oldest continuously operating amusement park in the United States.

Suprisingly, the ride prices really haven't changed much since they first opened in the late 1800s. There is no admission. and tickets are a quarter. They take one, two, three or four tickets per person.

The hottest ticket in the park, that would be the new Zippin' Pippin. Which came straight from Graceland to Green Bay. It is said to be Elvis Presley's favorite ride. The city of Green Bay purchased the design and the rights, and is built with all new wood so it's up to current safety codes.

So what does it feel like to ride the famous Zippin' Pippin? The fact that we rode it three times in a row speaks for itself. One man likes it so much, he's experienced all the twists and turns 500 times in the one year since the coaster opened.

In case the King himself comes back to be one of those repeat riders, the park isn't taking any chances. They've reserved a parking space for the rock n' roll legend.

While they're haven't been any Elvis sightings at Bay Beach yet, one thing you're sure to see is people getting off the Zippin' Pippin, grateful for the chance to check out the fun for themselves. No doubt they'll be smiling, saying, in true Elvis spirit, thank you, thank you very much.

Next week we'll be back in Green Bay to wrap up the "Trips on a Tank" series with a behind-the-scenes look at Lambeau Field.
