What to Wear During Workouts

Another weekend has come and gone, and whether you spent it at the lake with family or played it cool inside relaxing on the sofa, you probably weren't anticipating its end. Never fear, though- we've got a Monday morning fitness routine that will kick start your week into gear.

YMCA Boot Camp Instructor Vickie Christianson says an important aspect of self-motivation can lie within the clothing you select to workout in. She says breathable fabrics made from dry-fit materials, polyester, or spandex make for the most comfortable and adaptable outfits. Her two favorite brands, Soybu and Prana, are both what she calls stylish and versatile; each are sold locally in the Wausau area.

Once you've got the right attire, it's time to get up and get out there to overcome the Monday morning blues. Christianson showed us a step workout that you can do on a quick rest break during a run or while your kids are playing at the park. All you need is a flat platform at a manageable height to step onto to complete this exercise. You can adjust the intensity levels as needed to prevent injury during the step process.
