Wausau's Fire Department is gearing up for a busy weekend. This Friday at noon we'll see the kickoff events for their annual Ride for MDA "fun run".
Andy Adrian says the event started years ago as a way to spread awareness for the muscular dystrophy disease. He says he never imagined what started as a few riders during that small parade to flourish into thousands of riders flocking in from statewide.
Even though the event is fun-filled with cash giveaways, live music, and other festivities that accompany the parade, the main purpose of the fun run is to help those suffering from the disease who are in need. He says he's been able to see the success stories of this MDA ride firsthand, seeing wheelchairs donated to patients with the crippling illness and much more.
You'll need to register to participate in the fun run, which has a $20 sign-up fee. Registration is at Harley Davidson, starting Friday May 18th at 11 a.m. and again on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
If you plan on being part of the run, there are some prizes to look forward to, including the raffle for the Harley Davidson bike.
