Wausau Whitewater features a course that draws everyone from Olympic athletes, to locals and now 11-year-old twins! Just in time for the Buttercup Slalom races this weekend.
The girls are two of the younger paddlers to come to the Wausau course, but Madison and Michaela Corcoran have been kayaking since they were in kindergarten. They have been competing nationally for the last two years and will be taking part in this weekends slalom races on Sunday June 22nd.
Aside from the competitions and races the course hosts, they also offer several kayaking lessons throughout the summer. People may think that lessons allow you to get right out in the rapids, but the first steps to kayaking may surprise you.
A lot of precautions are taken to ensure a students safety and confidence before kayaking.
