OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- A dive team has recovered a snowmobile from a lake in Winnebago County, but its operator remains missing.

A motorist on Highway 41 spotted the snowmobile hitting open
water on Lake Buttes des Morts Sunday morning in the town of Algoma. Divers located the snowmobile, but ended their search for the rider when it got dark.

The Oshkosh Northwestern says they plan to resume their search Monday morning.

Officials say they believe they know who the missing snowmobiler is, and that the person probably wasn't familiar with the area.
