Wausau's Woodson Art Museum previews about 5 larger exhibits a year, but every so often they give students a chance to let their inner-star shine by giving them a chance to submit art pieces. Those lucky contestants can now see their art hanging as part of the "NASA I ART: 50 Years of Exploration" debut.

In celebrating NASA's 50 year anniversary, the museum is showcasing over 70 various artists included in the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition. Just down the hall though, pieces of the amateur artists hang with their names and ages, displaying their interpretations of the word space.

The contest was part of the teen council's outreach to get students 13-years-old and older to get involved. Artwork could suggest anything having to do with inner, outer, or even personal space; hence, the exhibit's title, SPACE.

An event will be held tomorrow night honoring the young aspiring artists whose work made it into the museum. Those artists will also receive art sets as a complimentary gift for participating.
SPACE runs in conjunction with the NASA exhibit on display until June 17.
