Veteran's Memorial Park in Rothschild now has a special memorial among its other displays.
A tribute to Jack Olson was unveiled Tuesday night. He served as a Village Board Trustee for nearly 40 years, but that's not the most impressive thing on his life's resume.
According to Jack's widow Valeria Olson, "He was in WWII and was stationed in the Allusion Islands. And of course then he was recalled for the Korean Crisis. And he served in Dayton Ohio as a Surgical Assistant."
Olson was given the Purple Heart and flying cross just days before he died last year.
The unveiling of his plaque was part of a Memorial Day service at the park Tuesday evening. A sign showing the name of the park was also seen for the first time.
Organizers say by waiting until a day after Memorial Day, more people could make it to the event.
