River District Theatre presents: "Convict Race: Lucasville"

On Easter Sunday 1993, more than 400 inmates at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility overpowered the guards igniting the longest deadly prison riot in the country's history.

By the time it was over eleven days later, a guard and 9 inmates were dead. What happened in those eleven days is the focus of "Convict Race: Lucasville" opening this weekend from River District Theatre in Wausau.

Sunrise 7's Sean Caldwell spoke with writer, director and actor Gary Anderson and cast member Connie Hallstrand about the show.

"Convict Race: Lucasville" opens Friday with performance February 21st-23rd and March 1st and 2nd. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 3 p.m. All performances will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wausau.

Tickets cost $12 dollars in advance or $15 at the door. To order call (715) 848-8037.

Following the show on Sunday, March 2nd there will be a panel discussion with members of local media on some of the lessons learned after Lucasville.
