Project Fresh Clothes Helping Those in Need
As many kids around Wausau are worried about picking the perfect new backpack or new pair of shoes for school, there are thousands who are worried they won't even get those things at all, simply because their parents can't afford them.
To help those low-income children, there's a local effort underway called "Project Fresh Clothes". We spoke with the coordinators to find out how it works, and how you can help out.
Mary Schultz and Sue Shulfer have been spending a lot of time sorting lately; going through pile after pile of donations for Project Fresh Clothes, which makes sure needy kids in Portage County have something to wear to school this fall. It's all so the kids who meet the low income qualifications can come "shopping" so to speak next month, and there are lots of them expected to show up and do just that.
Sometimes, it's the simplest things you donate that can make the biggest difference in a kids' life. Proving the old saying true, your trash really may be someone else's treasure.
If you'd like to donate clothes or shoes, you can drop them off at many places in Stevens Point. They would like you to do it by August 10th so they can have everything sorted by the 18th, when the kids go shopping.
