Forget what the latest fashion magazines say. In the minds of many right here in North Central Wisconsin, green and gold are the "it" colors this season.
That means stores selling Packers gear are seeing an entirely different kind of green.
From jerseys to jackets.
From keychains to koozies.
Rick Jaglinsksi has spent the past few months making sure everything at Packerland Plus is good to go for Green Bay's brand new season.
"It's here and we're ready for it."
It's the busiest time of the year for him, and he's not alone. Just ask Tim Ramer at Hoffman's Hobbies, where 80%of their business all year comes from all things green and gold.
He tells us, "Packers season is big time."
And they're doing everything they can to capitalize on that.
Ramer says, "We try and push all of our packers stuff to the front of the store but no matter where it is in the store people will look and find it if it's Packer things. "
We all know the cheesehead has been the longtime iconic packer headgear but this year, there's a new kid in town. It's the new sideline hat. And it's selling like crazy.
Jaglinski says, "It's put out by New Era Nike. That's the hat when they see Aaron Rodgers wearing it and everyone else, that's the hat all the fans are gonna want."
People's excitement about buying Packeres gear is rivaled only by their excitement for the season itself.
Ramer says, "We're all excited about the 15 and one last year but lets hope when the playoffs roll around this year it's not one and done."
Jaglinski echoes that sentiment. "Everybody hoping we're as good, if not take one more step further than we did last year and go to the Superbowl."
While Packer mania happens each and every year, this time it's a bit more hyped up than usual.
The reason can be summed up in two words: Milwaukee Brewers.
The worse they do, the hotter the frozen tundra becomes.
Perhaps Tim Ramer said it best....
"Baseball may be america's pastime but football seems to be America's passion."
