October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Jane Graham Jennings from The Women's Community was live on Sunrise 7 to tell us about what domestic violence warning signs to look for in your own friends and family.

She said most people think "Oh, I don't want to get involved in other people's lives," but Jane says if you suspect something is not quite right, you do need to get involved because it could save someone's life.

The Women's Community offers a wide array of resources for women who are trying to escape from an abusive situation. You can contact them at (715) 842-5663.

They are holding their annual Block Party on Saturday, October 5th from 11am - 1pm. There will be food and games, as well as plenty of law enforcement present to reiterate to children that police officers are their friends and they can help them in a bad situation.

Anyone is welcome to attend. It's at The Women's Community. The address is 3200 Hilltop Avenue in Wausau.
