The new United Way of Marathon County Career Closet opens November 12th.
It used to be in the US Bank building Downtown, but now it has it's very own storefront. It's at 705 S. 24th Avenue in Wausau.
People in need of professional clothing, who can't afford to buy their own, can go "shopping" for free.
You can get 2 complete outfits, including shoes and accessories, for both men and women.
Amanda Murphy, with United Way Emerging Leaders, says "You really get to work with the clients and see their face light up as they leave with an outfit and feel confident in having something so they feel prepared and ready to go out and nail that interview."
She goes on to explain how to benefit from the Career Closet. "If you come back and you got that job, bring back proof of employment, clients can come and pick out five more outfits."
It is based on an honor system. There are no forms you'll have to fill out about your income. You can stop in to get help during store hours.
Tuesdays: 4pm - 5pm
Wednesdays: 11:30am - 1pm
If you would like to donate professional clothing, you can drop it off during those same hours.
