If you grew up around a TV at all then you're probably familiar with The Muppets and Sesame Street, two popular shows most children can recite the theme song to without even thinking.
One middle school in town is putting that theory to the test, with their dual-themed choir concert based off the two shows coming up this next Tuesday.
DC Everest Middle School's 6th graders will be performing songs from the two shows as part of a class concert. It's a project the young starlets have been working on for months, and now they'll finally get to put their skills to the test.
The Muppets and Sesame Street Choir Director Julie Burgess says the themes were chosen by the students who soon took ownership of the concert, coming up with ideas and even dedicating themselves to early morning practices.
With the help of theater friends, Burgess was able to borrow actual Muppet dolls for the show which the kids have learned to master and puppeteer.
All of the shows greatest hits and theme songs will be performed at the concerts, including Kermit's single and one of the kids' favorites, "It Ain't Easy Being Green".
The show will be next Tuesday, May 22, in DC Everest's Village Theater at 7 p.m. For more information please contact the middle school at 715-241-9700.
