MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Plant lovers and history buffs will get a chance to learn how Wisconsin settlers gardened at Old World Wisconsin later this month.

The historical museum will offer an after-hours stroll through its gardens on Aug. 23. Marcia Carmichael, the museum's historical gardener and author of "Putting Down Roots: Gardening Insights from Wisconsin's Early Settlers," will lead the walk and share information on German immigrants' gardening style, traditions and adaptations.

Participants can register on-line through noon on Aug. 22. Tickets are $20.

Old World Wisconsin features dozens of historic buildings relocated from around the state. The site is located outside Eagle in southeastern Wisconsin.
