Local Shelter Aims to Stop Domestic Violence Misconceptions

The Family Center in Wisconsin Rapids is launching a new effort to correct common misconceptions about domestic violence.

The five biggest misconceptions are:

#1: She must have done something to provoke him.

#2: If it was that bad, she would leave.

#3: Domestic abuse only happens in lower class families.

#4: Domestic violence is not a serious crime.

#5: Domestic abuse is not my business, and I can’t do anything about it.
