It's the first time Wisconsin Rapids has seen something like this, and it's getting some major hype in the community. Although the Color runs are nationally known, Element Mobile and the Children's Miracle Network are teaming up to put a twist on the run by bringing a more local spin of it called the Kolor for Kids FunFest.
The FunFest will benefit the Children's Miracle Network which supports child health care improvement for millions of young people around the world. The network's mission is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals. There are three CMN Hospitals located here in Wisconsin.
If you're imagining a family friendly fun run/ walk when you think FunFest then you thought right, but more activities are bringing color to this Kolor-ful event. It all starts at the Grand Rapids Lions Club next weekend, August 25th from 6 a.m to 9 p.m.
A pancake breakfast will kick start the event, then at 10 a.m. the FunFest Run/ Walk will commence. From that point on, it's all uphill with inflatables, dunk tanks, helium balloons, and face painting from noon until 5 p.m. Concerts along with food and beverage stands will close out the evening.
Here's where the "Kolor" comes into play. Everyone starts out wearing white t-shirts which can be purchased at the event, but during the run/ walk volunteers will be blitzing powdered color at participants, resulting in a massive crowd decked out in an assortment of colors.
The registration fee for the race is $35 for individuals and $30 if you're part of a team of four or more. For more information about the FunFest, you can visit www.kolorforkids.com.
