IRS Changes Tax Forgiveness Program

The IRS is changing its tax payment forgiveness program.

The "Offer in Compromise" program lets you negotiate agreements to pay less than the full tax amount you owe. The changes make it more flexible and let some pay off their debts faster than before.

In 2011 the IRS accepted 34% of the compromise offers it received; up from just 25% in 2010.
