MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- With only a week left before the deadline for the filing of tax returns, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue is reminding taxpayers that free assistance is available.
State officials say there are 200 free sites across the state run by trained volunteers.
The department urges people to call 211 to find sites run by Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly.
The sites help low-to-moderate income residents, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities prepare their returns for free.
The state also has informational videos online at www.revenue.wi.gov.
