Braving the Bench: Monday Morning Motivation

The weekend of blistering sun and laying out on the lawn has come and gone, but that doesn't mean the droll of the morning needs to ruin your day. It's about that time again, the time for Monday morning motivation.

YMCA Boot Camp Instructor Vickie Christianson gave us some motivational advice for the day. She said by fitting in a quick routine somewhere in your day, no matter where you are, you'll amp up your metabolism and have more energy from that point on. Sounds easy, right?

To prove that you can fit in fitness anywhere, we took to Oak Island's playground structure, starting with upper body work outs. Christianson says you can re-creat the normal push up by positioning your hands along the side of the table, then in lowering to a 45 degree angle perform the push up routine.

To increase the intensity level of your workout , you can position yourself as if to do push ups on the ground, except this time you'll place your feet on the bench seat and complete the exercise.
