Beauty and the Beast Comes to Life

It's a tale as old as time, but it's coming to life here in Wausau this weekend.

Today and tomorrow Central Wisconsin Children's Theater will be performing their final acts of the musical Beauty and the Beast Jr. It's an adaptation of the Disney movie written by Linda Woolverton, Howard Ashman, Time Rice, and Alan Menken, with its director being our previous guest Joelle Murray, who also manages the summer camps for the theater.

It's taken practice and determination, but Director Murray says the musical is coming together very smoothly; she noted the cast has only been preparing since April.

With elaborate costumes and scene displays, the musical attracted a full house yesterday for its premiere. They expect the same large following for Friday evening's and Saturday's performances.

The final shows are tonight and tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and senior citizens.
